How we earn money, and what it does (and does not) buy.

The Council participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com. When you buy something via a link on this site, we may earn a commission. You pay the same price either way.

What this changes about our editorial position

Nothing. Council recommendations are made on the merits. Products are listed because we would, or do, recommend them for the described use. We do not accept payment for placement, and our verdicts are not influenced by affiliate relationships.

How we choose products

1. The product is fit for the use the Council recommends it for.
2. It is sold by a reputable manufacturer with reasonable warranty terms.
3. It is verified to be in stock and tagged correctly each month by our affiliate-ops review.

Removing the disclosure does not remove the program

By law, this disclosure is required wherever an affiliate link appears. The Council also footnotes commission relationships at the point of recommendation.
